This course, led by Dr Fadi Barrak with visiting lecturers, consists of a series of eleven full day intensive workshops comprising morning lectures and afternoon group discussions, case studies, practical demonstrations and hands-on sessions.

Module 9 features a day working on Cadaver heads to practice suturing, implant techniques and basic augmentation procedures.

The course also includes a place on the “Introduction to Implant Treatment Coordination” for your Treatment Coordinator, Implant Nurse or Practice Manager. This runs in parallel with Module 4 on 17th June 2017.

Successful completion of the course leads to the award of the VSS Academy Certificate in Implant Dentistry and full attendance also provides 88 hours of verifiable CPD.

The course takes you through the basics to the advanced; from practical workshops sessions practising implant placement on mandible models, to pigs heads, to cadavers and finally to placing implants in real patients under the supervision of a VSS-approved Mentor

The Mentoring aspect of this course is recommended although optional – choose from the 3 course options below;

    Informed consent and medico-legal aspects of implant dentistry; case assessment and treatment planning
    Practical workshop: treatment planning cases and discussion

  • MODULE 2: Basic sciences for Implant Dentistry – 14th April 2017

    Surgical anatomy; bone physiology/bone implant interface; therapeutics
    Practical workshop: gowning up and surgical set-up

  • MODULE 3: Surgical skills for Implant Dentistry – 12th May 2017

    Surgery set up/aseptic technique; flap design; suturing
    Practical workshop: flap design and suturing

  • MODULE 4: Restoring Implants – 16th June 2017

    Restoring implants; impression technique;
    Practical workshop: impression techniques and use of restorative components

  • MODULE 5: Occlusion – basic principles – 21st July 2017

    Occlusion – basic principles; occlusion – in implant dentistry; planning and sequencing
    Practical workshop: correct use of articulators, centric relation, occlusal prescription

  • MODULE 6: CBCT theory and practice – 8th September 2017

    Radiology, CBCT and Planning
    Practical workshop: training session on CBCT and case discussions

  • MODULE 7: Implant Design and Biometrics – 5th & 6th October 2017

    CBCT Theory and practice

  • MODULE 8: Bone defects and management – 27th October 2017

    Bone defects; grafting material; GBR principles; soft tissue management

  • MODULE 9: Implant surgery procedures – 17th November 2017

    Practical Workshop: Suturing implant placement and basic augmentation procedures on Cadaver heads

A 5% discount of course fees is available to all delegates choosing to pay the fees in full prior to course commencement

Full fees are due at the start of the course, but by agreement can be paid in three monthly standing order instalments

Mentoring cases – Mentees are responsible for the costs of all materials required for their cases

Additional Mentoring is available after you have finished the course, through VSS either in-house or at a VSS Training Practice at additional cost.
